Meeting of IT Security and Privacy Research Unit

 

2nd Meeting of IT Security and Privacy Research Unit – Bangladesh was held in University of Asia Pacific (UAP) on 23rd August 2013, Friday. The meeting was organized by Center for IT Security and Privacy (CISP) of UAP. Prof. Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of UAP, was present as the chief guest in the inauguration program of the meeting. Mr. Aloke Kumar Saha, Head of CSE Department of UAP, was also present in that program. Dr. Mohammad Shahriar Rahman was the coordinator and anchor of the whole meeting along with the inauguration program.

The day-long meeting consisted of 3 sessions. In total, twelve (12) research papers and case-studies from both academia and industry were presented in that meeting. At the end of all session, all presenters, faculty members of different universities, personnel from different software and networking companies and students took part in an open discussion session

Participants think that IT security is a key point for healthy growth and sustainable development of the IT sector of Bangladesh. To ensure information security and privacy, we need to build a good research environment in this sector in conjunction with formulating strong policy and raising awareness among the mass people. Prof. Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury said in his speech, "Ensuring IT security is a continuous process and advanced research works on a regular basis are must to achieve that"

In this meeting, research papers and case-studies were presented by Md. Monowar Hossain (Daffodil International University), Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque (University of Dhaka), Subrata Talukder (Method IT Ltd.), Sydul Islam Khan (Daffodil International University), Rawnak Jahan (University of Asia Pacific), Mohamed Riazul Karim Ivan (SAMSUNG R&D Institute Bangladesh), Sheikh Muhammad Sarwar (University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh), Md. Alamgir Kabir Sagar (Daffodil International University), Ditee Yasmeen (Institute of Science and Technology, National University), Imran Biswas (University of Asia Pacific), Fahim Anwar (Index Investments & Advisory Pvt. Ltd.) and Muhibbul Muktadir Tanim (Robi Axiata Limited). At the end of the meeting, Dr. Mohammad Shahriar Rahman announced to organize a national conference on IT security and privacy next year.
